CELEBRATIONS LEADING TO WOMENS DAY

East Cape MEC for Health Dr Bevan Goqwana will officially launch Men As Partners (MAP) in Reproductive Health on celebration programme
leading to Womens Day Celebrations (9th August2000) at Engcobo Stadium on Saturday, 05 August 2000 at 10H00.

The theme for this year on Womens Day Celebrations is "MAN MAKING A POSITIVE DEFFERENCE IN WOMENs WELL-BEING". The focus of this year is
on men.

People will be educated on how couples should treat each other. Even unmarried women should be treated on a conducive manner to help on
reducing numbers of unplanned children which sometimes end up doing abortions. The importance of the contraceptives on both females and
males should be strengthened.

Engcobo is an administrative area with high population and also high incidences of domestic violence including sexual abuses,
psychological, physical and alcoholic abuse in this province due to lack of employment opportunities.

Among the people invited are Amaqwathi Paramount Chief, Director of Government Action from National Department of Health Mrs Thamie
Skenjana and Apostolic Faith Mission Bishop Mboniswa.

The government will appreciate your attendance and coverage of the ceremony, which is another major milestone towards achieving a non-
sexist and just society.
